Pheww…what a hectic week!

I haven’t been updating my blog for a while coz lots have happened over the week. First the visa debarcle, which has now settled. And then my family (parents, sis and bro) arrived on Tuesday night in Sydney from Gold Coast for my graduation cum holiday. I was really excited for them to be here coz I love showing them what I have been doing here for the past 4 years! We went out for dinner at Chinatown coz mum was craving for ‘rice’…being the typical Chinese mother..so I recommended Superbowl coz they serve the yummiestt preserved egg and minced beef congee. After dinner, we took a stroll along Darling Harbour and Circular Quay….just in time for supper at Pancakes On The Rocks!

The next 2 days were spent looking for a car. My friend was selling his car, and my dad wanted to take a look at it before we decide to buy. After looking at other cars, he decided to buy my friend’s car, which is a 1993 Honda Civic. It’s in excellent condition for a car that old, very little mileage and real cheap to boot! My dad spent some time checking everything eg oil filter, brake pads, yada yada…just to make sure that it’s in great condition for me to drive. He also changed 2 tyres, front brake pad and rear brake shoes. For those in the unknown, my dad is a mechanic. So he made sure I knew how to do the routine check on fluid levels and how to change a punctured tyre. We also managed to fit in some shopping in between doing the car stuff.

Next, came the big day!

There I am..finally after 4 years of hardwork and lots of money spent, I got to put on my graduation robe. It was a bittersweet affair. Sweet because it was the day my whole family was waiting for and because it was a much anticipated ‘celebration’ by all of us. Bitter because it also marked the end of our uni days (undergrad days), the end of us hanging around together as a bunch of fools, the end of us as students and getting away as one, the end of basketball sessions during lunch hour, basically the end of good ol uni life. I’ll upload more pics when I have the time.

Anyway, we did more sight seeing…went to Blue Mountains…visited some relatives and did more shopping. That was basically how they spent their 5 days in Sydney. I hope they enjoyed the trip coz I feel really bad/guilty coz they did spend quite a bit of time on my car.

The most heart breaking moment is of course when I had to send them off at the airport. It was the same feeling when they sent me off in KLIA. The feeling of separation, the feeling of not going to see them for at least 10 months…they’re not very nice. I hate it. As I’ve mentioned in my previous blogs, I hate the feeling. But it’s better this time, I didn’t have to cry myself to sleep. But still…I cried at the airport.

Oh well, now that everything’s back to normal, back to work today as usual. Feels weird coz it feels like I’ve been away for ages. I also feel empty now coz I have nothing to look forward to. Before, I was looking forward to them visiting me and the whole graduation thing and now it’s nothing. I need to find a new thing…anything…

Till the next update, let me go back to my mundane life.
